Mercedes Sprinter Campervan Interior
Inspired by Scottish castle interiors, the rich, dark cabinetry in this campervan’s interior pairs perfectly with wooden accents, creating a warm, contemporary vibe.
The blue tiling in the shower room adds a vibrant touch, while the overall design mirrors the look of a high-end boutique hotel on wheels.
Every detail has been meticulously crafted – no carpet lining here! From the execution of the flexible layout to the luxurious materials, this conversion is a true expression of campervan creativity.

Van Conversion Layout
If we had a checklist of dream features, this Mercedes Sprinter conversion would be off the charts, but it’s the innovative layout that really shines here.
Technically, this is a closed bulkhead conversion, with the clever inclusion of a secret sliding door takes you from the cab, through the shower, and into the interior. This genius move not only makes the cab easily accessible, but also turns the shower room into a kind of entrance hall – perfect for drying clothes, and storing coats, shoes etc.
Moving from front to back, there’s a shower with removable toilet, kitchen, and a versatile U-shaped sofa that effortlessly converts into a full-size bed (with storage beneath), and a Lagun swivelling table leg system.
Key features:
↠ Shower cubicle with toilet.
↠ Well-equipped kitchen.
↠ Table on Lagun table leg swivel system.
↠ U-shaped dinette, converts to large bed.
↠ Entertainment centre with projector screen.
Seating & Sleeping
This is the first van conversion we’ve showcased that has a full lounge with convertible bed set-up to the rear.
We waxed lyrical about the Lippert electric bed in this Sprinter family camper, but for simplicity in a two-person van build, you can’t go far wrong with U-shaped dinette that transforms into a spacious bed.
During the day, the U-shaped dinette serves as a spacious seating area perfect for dining, working, or relaxing. At night, it transforms into a comfortable sleeping space, allowing for a restful sleep. This flexible setup maximises the use of space and provides a cosy, home-like atmosphere.
Key features:
↠ U-shaped dinette that converts into a large bed (2 berth).
↠ Comfortable 5″ cushions for seating and sleeping.
↠ Adjustable table on removable Lagun pivot table mount.
↠ Easy conversion between seating and sleeping configurations.
↠ Nebula Capsule projector.
↠ Removable projector screen.

The multi-functional space is perfect for full-time vanlife or extended road trips, and is further enhanced by the addition of a Nebula Capsule projector and a removable projector screen. Transforming the van into a mobile entertainment hub, you can enjoy cinema-quality movie nights or stream your favourite shows under the stars.
The Nebula projector is a standard feature of the Beyond 2 configuration from Crozier Campers, and the lounge area can be personalised with a range of fabrics, colours and finishes (optional designer fabrics such as Harris tweed also available as an upgrade).

This campervan build boasts a spacious shower room, with statement tiling and dual-access – from the cab and the interior.

We’ve covered all the visible functions of the shower room set-up in this conversion, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Additionally, features like the pressurised water inlet and tank level sensors make filling and monitoring a breeze, adding another layer of convenience to your adventures.

With a 10-litre capacity, it provides ample hot water for showers, washing dishes, and other essential needs, making vanlife a breeze.

Kitchen
The kitchen in this Sprinter van conversion not only looks great, but also employs key staples from the well-respected Thetford brand, ensuring both quality and reliability on the road.
A couple of points to note; firstly, this is an LPG / gas-free conversion, so there’s a twin ring induction hob – made possible thanks to the powerful off-grid set-up from Victron Energy.
Secondly, we’re a fan of the eye-level Thetford T2090 90L fridge – it’s one of the largest 12V compressor fridges you’ll find, and it even has a built-in freezer (we’re not the only fans either – we also saw this same fridge in this apartment-style Sprinter camper).
Key features:
↠ Thetford SHB902 Topline twin ring induction hob.
↠ Thetford T2090 90L fridge with built in freezer.
↠ Black quartz composite sink.

For easy management, a Cerbo GX with powerful dual core processor manages all connected Victron products, and a GX Touch 50 provides a user-friendly control centre for monitoring and managing your power usage.

FAQs About Vanlife in a Mercedes-Benz Campervan
How much does a Mercedes Sprinter campervan cost?
The cost of a Mercedes Sprinter campervan can vary widely based on the type of conversion and the features included.
For example, a high-end conversion like the ‘Beyond 2‘ configuration from Crozier Campers costs from £125,000, which includes the base van and VAT. This comprehensive build includes luxury features, advanced technology, and high-quality materials, making it a ready-to-drive, top-tier option for vanlife enthusiasts.
However, if you’re considering a self-conversion, costs can start from just a few thousand pounds, for a basic build.

Additionally, this comprehensive guide will give you a detailed breakdown of the cost of van conversions.
Is there a toilet in this van?
Yes there is a Thetford 565P Elegance Porta Potti toilet. Different to traditional ‘cassette toilets’, which have a fixed base and a removable waste holding tank (cassette), the Porta Potti is a self-contained unit with both the freshwater and waste holding tanks integrated into a single portable system. This makes it highly versatile and a great choice for campervans.
What vans are a good alternative to the Mercedes Sprinter for campervans?
The Mercedes Sprinter is one of the UK’s leading vans to convert, but there are alternatives. Some of the closest comparable vans for campervan conversions include the VW Crafter, MAN TGE, and Ford Transit. These vans offer similar dimensions, build quality, and versatility, making them popular choices for conversion projects.
Additionally, other great options include the Fiat Ducato, Renault Master, Peugeot Boxer, and Citroen Relay. These vans are known for their spacious interiors and practicality, providing a solid foundation for a variety of campervan layouts.
The VW (Volkswagen) Crafter is particularly noted for its robust build and reliability, closely matching the Mercedes Sprinter in terms of features and performance. Similarly, the MAN TGE, which shares many components with the VW Crafter, offers a high level of customisation and durability. The Ford Transit, a long-time favourite in the UK, is also a strong contender, known for its wide availability and excellent driving dynamics.
Each of these alternatives presents unique advantages, making them worthy options to consider for your campervan conversion.
What size Sprinter van is best for conversion?
Choosing the best size Sprinter van for conversion depends on your specific needs and how you plan to use the van.
Here’s a brief breakdown of the different options:
SWB (Short Wheel Base)
Best for: City driving, easy parking, and minimalistic conversions.
Advantages: More manoeuvrable and easier to park in urban areas. Ideal for solo travellers or couples who prefer a compact, agile van.
MWB (Medium Wheel Base)
Best for: A balance of space and manoeuvrability.
Advantages: Offers more living space than the SWB while still being relatively easy to drive and park. As Andy from Ape Vans explains in this MWB Sprinter van tour, It’s often considered the “Swiss Army knife” of vans, providing a solid mix of space, storage, and drivability. Perfect for small families or those needing a bit more room for amenities and gear.
LWB (Long Wheel Base)
Best for: Interior space for extended travel.
Advantages: Provides significant living space internally, allowing for more comprehensive conversions with additional amenities like larger kitchens, full bathrooms, and more storage. Great for full-time vanlife or larger families.
Extra Long Wheel Base
Best for: Extensive conversions with all the comforts of home.
Advantages: The most space available, making it suitable for luxury conversions with separate living areas, larger beds, and more storage. Ideal for those who need or want a very spacious and fully equipped mobile home.
Ultimately, the best size for your Sprinter van conversion depends on your lifestyle and how you intend to use the van. If you aim to go on extensive expeditions with lots of gear or a larger family, the LWB or extra long wheel base might be the best choice. For a balance of space and ease of driving, the MWB is often the preferred option. For those who prioritise manoeuvrability and ease of parking, especially in urban settings, the SWB is ideal.
