Custom Design Features
This is typically where we discuss the distinct features of the layout or technology that render a van conversion unique.
But in the realm of custom van conversions, the ‘SCNDVN 023’ stands out as a true masterpiece for another reason: the handpicked materials, chosen with a keen eye on both aesthetic appeal and ecological impact.
From the high quality Poplar plywood cabinetry to the eco-friendly ‘Espira’ flooring from the Corka range (CO2 neutral), every element has been thoughtfully selected to enhance both the visual allure and the sustainability ethos.
The choice of Poplar plywood goes beyond its elegant finish; these sustainably grown trees contribute to increased biodiversity and produce expansive root systems that aid in purifying air, soil, and water.
Furthermore, the emphasis on natural materials not only adds to the Scandinavian aesthetic and finish, but also creates an ambiance where light and space are celebrated. This deliberate approach infuses the ‘SCNDVN 023’ with a sense of calm, making it a truly unique sanctuary on wheels.

FAQs About the Volkswagen T6 Campervan Conversion
How much does it cost to convert a VW T6 campervan?
The cost to professionally convert a new VW T6 into a campervan varies depending on several factors.
Firstly, the base van itself, before any conversion work, typically ranges from £20,000 to £40,000, depending on the model and features.
Additionally, the cost of the professional conversion can vary based on the quality and specifications desired. For a high-quality conversion, similar to the one showcased here, you can expect to spend between £25,000 to £35,000.
Overall, while an initial investment of £45,000+ may seem substantial, the result is a bespoke campervan that offers unique style and functionality for your adventures on the road.
What’s the size difference between a SWB and LWB VW T6?
The height and width of the short wheelbase (SWB) T6 and the long wheelbase (LWB) T6 are the same (H = 2.07m, W = 2.29m). It is the length that differs.
The long wheelbase VW T6 is 40cm longer than the short wheelbase VW T6.
The conversion in this van tour is a VW T6 long wheelbase (LWB). If you’d like a larger VW camper, the next step up is the MWB VW Crafter camper.
How can you tell the difference between a SWB and LWB VW T6?
To tell if you have the SWB or LWB VW Transporter, just look at the gap between the sliding door and rear wheel. If the door appears to be directly next to the wheel, it’s the SWB. If there’s a bigger gap, it’s the LWB.
Is a VW T6 better than a VW T5 campervan?
There isn’t a simple answer to whether a VW T6 is better than a VW T5, they are so similar!
To be honest, while there are minor discrepancies between the two models, the T6 is essentially a cosmetic refresh, rather than a significant overhaul of the T5.
In terms of technical specifications, the two share many similarities.
One notable difference, however, lies in the engine. Since September 2015, all new UK vehicles must comply with EU emissions standards. Consequently, the T6 boasts a Euro 6 engine, emitting fewer pollutants into the environment compared to its predecessor, the T5.
If you’re seeking the van life experience, opting for newer models like the T6 or T6.1 camper is a safe bet – they are renowned for their enhanced reliability, improved safety features, and potentially lower insurance costs, making them a compelling choice for adventurers and road trippers alike.
Why do people love the VW T6 campervan so much?
Well, for starters, the Transporter was voted the second most reliable van in the UK in the latest FN5O survey (2023).
This annual report asks 50 of the UK’s leading leasing companies to rate their vehicles based on warranty and breakdown issues. It was only beaten by the Mercedes Sprinter – so not bad!
Additionally, they are visually appealing, and easy to manoeuvre/drive. That said, they perhaps haven’t yet reached the cult status of the much-loved VW T5 (yet) – give it time!
